Re: Meaningful Music
I had to smile at this Jonesy,as recently I've been making use of
the soundtrack from . . . .wait for it . . . "Jungle Book!" when I've
been going out--and especially if feeling down. You can't help but
smile when you hear 'Baloo' singing # 'The Bare Necessities'!
#"Well it's a dooby do do,a dooby do do . . .A said a dooby do do,
a dooby dooby dooby do do!"
What the hell,it works for me!!!
If not listening to that,I'll listen to rousing stuff, like 'Ravel's Bolero',
Theme from 'Big Country', 'Albatross', 'Starwars', and some classical
stuff I like but don't know composers. I had been 'off ' listening to music
for a long time, but when I started up again,I was amazed at how it
lifted my spirits, now I wouldn't be without it. Take care of your
'bare necessities'!
Warmest Regards,
jimscarlet

Re: Meaningful Music
I really really really LOVE Gretchen Wilson's "Right on Time" ...
"Yeah you go what you go through to get where you are.
Lucky for me, I didn’t go too far.
I turned around before the end of the line,
took a while to get here, but I’m right on time."
Also, of course, "Let it GO" from Frozen...but I'm pretty sure I don't need to post those lyrics?

Re: Meaningful Music
I've been getting a lot of new meaning out of Mumford and Son's 2009 album "Sigh No More". Every single song has connected with a different part of my heart, but particularly these two:
The Cave-
"'Cause I need freedom now
And I need to know how
To live my life as it's meant to be..
And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again"
Timshel-
"And you have your choices
And these are what make man great
His ladder to the stars
But you are not alone in this
And you are not alone in this
As brothers we will stand and we'll hold your hand
Hold your hand"

Hi all,
Music can be so healing, can't it? I'm glad you are finding songs that help you so much. Music has definitely been a huge part of my healing process.
Could I gently remind you though to please list your entries as follows:
Song, artist, album, producer, year
- just to be sure we are abiding by copyright laws.
Many thanks.

Re: Meaningful Music
This is a great idea! Love it. Music is such a brilliant resource.
Totally lifts your spirits I agree JimScarlet. And we don't have to do anything just listen.
What is it about Let it go? My Daughter got me into singing it with her and it works every time. Brilliant!
Very much love and appreciate Sigur Ros Diver, their music has often 'saved' me. Will have to carry this round for a bit and come back with some titles.

Re: Meaningful Music
Recently I've been listening to Shout. It seems so appropriate for me right now!
"Shout, shout, let it all out! These are the things I can do without! Come on, I'm talking to you, come on!"
Song: "Shout"
Tears for Fears
Album: Songs from the Big Chair
Producer: Chris Hughes
1985

Re: Meaningful Music
There's a folk/instrumental artist called Peter Broderick I'm fond of. A good song is And It's Alright (Home album, 2008, Bella Union). There are only a few words but they seem meaningful for different reasons at different times. :) (Think it's okay to post some of these, not all, but if not I can remove them.)
Seven shooting stars in one night
The water and sand in our eyesight
...
And it's all
And it's alright
Seven shooting stars in one night
The water and sand in our eyesight
...
And it's all
And it's alright
