To my tiny little past self, lost, and all alone
You were left without a parent to come and take you home.

When your parents were found, they did not care
How frightened you had been.

Instead of thinking about you
They only thought about them.

They said that it was your fault
That you’d been left behind.

But that, my dear, was not the truth
To you, it was they lied.

It was their job as your parents
To ensure that you were safe.

As you went along throughout the world
Exploring and curious in haste.

It was not your job as their sweet young child
To keep your eyes on them.

That’s a burden for only your parents,
So never feel guilty again.
