I respect you guys and the positive learning that you promote, but the Apple thing is a trick.

If you have to fake bruise the Apple in secret, then you are lying to those kids about reality, like gaslighting.

I’m sure there is a better way.

And don’t be surprised if the plant experiment doesn’t come out as expected, reproduction of results in different labs can be difficult.

All wonderful ideas but these are subtle things, sometimes one way, sometimes another, all due to the beat of a butterfly’s wing.

But we can’t rig the game, it’s cheating.

I think I'd like to try the plant thing on my own at home first to see how it works. I think it is cool idea.

With the apple thing I don't think it would be bad to have the kids bang it a little on the table every time. That way we show how the mistreated apple gets hurt even though it isnt being hurt bad enough to see on the outside. Bullies and meaness in my grade level (7year olds) say mean things but usually hit and push too. But not hard enough to really beat someone up so to say.

Good idea to let kids give it a little push or hit as well as say nasty things. It all helps teach them that bullying is wrong

Agree. Right up there with 'everything happens for a reason' on the I will rant at you scale. Nope, nope, nopety nope.

I have seen some good modifications. 'that which doesn't kill you will give you a lot of dysfunctional coping strategies and a really dark sense of humour.' and my favourite, 'that which does not kill you will make you weird and hard to relate to.'
