Just a reminder about copyright please... viewtopic.php?f=72&t=5940
Chessgirl, I have shortened the lyrics you posted and will add the required 'Song, artist, album, producer, year'
(p.s. I have spent 20 minutes trying to find the information for the DMB song, The Fly, so if you know the album and producer, please let me know and I will add it to your post.

I’m so sorry jonesy! I did not realize we needed all that info. I will search for it all. It’s a Dave Matthews song, but I’m not sure if it’s part of an album. I think it was a song they did especially for something like a movie. It was the ending song in the movie “Joshua”

Re: Meaningful Music
I've been obsessed with Animals by Cocorosie. Specifically this part seems to resonate:
I always knew I would spend a lot of time alone
No one would understand me,
Maybe I should go and live amongst the animals...
Spend all my time amongst the animals
And on the tracks I would go
They lead to the sea
To be amongst the animals...
Song: Animals
Artist: Cocorosie
Album: The Adventures Of Ghosthorse And Stillborn
Producer: CocoRosie & Valgeir Sigurðsson
Year: 2007

Re: Meaningful Music
So I read the lyrics to this song last night...
'Down With the Sickness' by a band called Disturbed.
(I've never really enjoyed their music - a few good songs, but not a fan really.)
Anyway, I looked at the lyrics and wondered how I'd never noticed them before after so many years hearing that song... Can't believe how much they resonated with me, despite the lyrics being metaphorical.

Re: Meaningful Music
I've heard a song on the radio that surprised me a bit with, I guess, openly talking about something I keep hidden. A few of the lyrics as follows, though the rest are worth a listen (to) too:
"Parents are children
Parents are children
Parents were children all of the time
Parents they made us
They tried to raise us
But parents betrayed us even when they tried."
Song: hold yourself.
Artist: Tune-Yards
Album: Sketchy.
Producer: Melissa Lopez Ley
Year: 2021
Side note, it is not always easy to find the producer! In the end located it on the track's Youtube page of all things, that'll be my first port of call next time!

Re: Meaningful Music
Another from me...
A haunting, yet beautifully painful song... just listened to it again. It is usually one I skip over when listening to that album or when I have the playlist on random play, but tonight I needed to listen to it... gave me shivers all over my body. (Often certain music and vocals do that to me.)
I could have picked lines from the first verse, or even the second.. the whole song is lyrically spot on.
Song: Damage Inside
Artist: Machine Head
Album: Bloodstone & Diamonds
Year: 2014
Producer: Robert Flynn & Juan Urteaga
And I can't look you in the eye
I don't want you to see the damage inside
I've been gone for so long
The full lyrics I'm sure will be relatable to all of us here at one time...

Song: I Am Machine
Artist: Three Days Grace
Album: Human
Producer: Gavin Brown
Year: 2014
Here's to bein' human
All the pain and sufferin'
There's beauty in the bleedin'
At least you feel somethin'
I wish I knew what it was like
To care enough to carry on
I wish I knew what it was like
To find a place where I belong
But I am machine, I never sleep
I keep my eyes wide open
I am machine, a part of me
Wishes I could just feel somethin'
I am machine, I never sleep
Until I fix what's broken
I am machine, a part of me
Wishes I could just feel somethin'

Re: Meaningful Music
Good lyrics Noname Musically it's a little light for me though.
Here's one I'm enjoying again lately... Maybe the pandemic and world events lately has something to do with it!
Song: Refuse/Resist
Artist: Sepultura
Album: Chaos A.D.
Year: 1993
Producer: Andy Wallace
Chaos A.D
Disorder unleashed
Starting to burn
Starting to lynch
Silence means death
Stand on your feet
Inner fear
Your worst enemy
