In Support Of Our Fellow Artists

Post by tiki »

Hey Survivors,

Just thought it would be great to communicate about the artwork here in support of our fellow artists.
By the way - I am very impressed with the talent we have among us.

Express yourself -

Just had a look at the art work. Wow it’s beautiful I use art sometimes to express what I’m feeling but it’s no where as good as you all have done. You are all so talented.

thank you, tiki,

i have wanted to share more about my drawing SCARLETT https://isurvive.org/member-artwork/member-artwork/

This is a drawing of Scarlett, the most courageous of the children inside me.
She was created to hold the terror, physical pain, and the shame of sexual abuse.
For 55 years I denied her, tried to kill her, abandoned her and called her 'the evil one'.
I told her she was ugly, unlovable, hopeless, worthless, a liar and scary.
Over the last year and a half, with the help of a good therapist,
I have learned to recognize, accept, love and see her true value and beauty.
Now I know she is the strongest protector in me, my super hero.
My new goal is to help her feel some joy and pride in her scars,
and to honor her as the fierce warrior she is.

Reason: added internal link to the art piece
A scar is the tattoo of a triumph to be proud of. It says the hurt is over and the wound is closed. It means you conquered the pain, learned a lesson, grew stronger, and moved forward. There is a beauty in my scars that I can see now.
