everyday feelings

sometimes everything around me feels lifeless. like i'm looking at the world through a warped lens, or a kaleidoscope with no colour. then, the earth beneath my feet rearranges and i am falling. down and down through an endless hole.
i remind myself of where i am. the grass beneath me is shifting in the wind. i can see the sun and clouds but it all feels unreal. i pinch myself but i can't feel it. am i dreaming?
sometimes i wonder if my guardian angel is speaking to me. from time to time i hear a voice whisper in my ear, saying my name. i have felt its breath on my neck.
i wonder who i am. if i'm all part of a greater plan or if i'm a grain of sand in a giant hourglass.
the clock is ticking and with each movement of the hands there's a vibration that runs through my body.
so, who am i?
i am an object, i am watching paint dry, i am nails on a chalkboard.
i am the tired girl with her arms tied behind her back, too exhausted to fight. i am chained to my bedroom floor while the room slowly fills with water. i am grasping onto anything that helps me feel.
so i lay down and sleep it off.
