Poetry

Post by Chiquitta »

Hello everyone!,
Writing is a great source of expressing oneself; while healing at the same time. It is therapeutic too. That is my opinion. Since I have started to write, the words flow like water down a stream. I think because for years I was silenced, it is natural for me to want to fear not the past and open up and speak what is inside my heart. I have written a bio, under the recovery section of this forum. I have written short stories, and blogs based on my trauma. My next feat is to write more poetry; as I already have written one for this forum. I also have a blog site. The list goes on and on. My message to all of you is to write, write, and write. It is a great feeling for me to be able to feel, when once upon a time I was numb. Any feedback would be wonderful!

A Bird of Paradise; A Peacock

I wish I was a bird
With such beautiful plummage
Strength in my wings
Eyes well focused
I could fly away
And never come back
Instead my wings got clipped
I could not fly
I started to believe in myself
I started to fly with broken wings
They got stronger and stronger
I did fly away
My feathers started to shine
With my wings I started to soar
My eyes had keen vision
Alas! I was the bird of paradise; a peacock!
