Abuse and Illness

I am currently struggling with the emotional affects of several types of abuse, other trauma (not abuse), as well as a chronic illness. In certain ways the feelings that I have because I am sick, are related to feelings I had when I had PTSD.



Inside the depths of me,
Inside the twisted nerves I own,
Lies togetherness torn apart,
Trust shattered then shredded to wisps of betrayal.

Inside the muscles overworked so hard,
Inside the toughness of my soft skinned legs,
Lies kicks and screams and shouts,
For mercy, for understanding, for help.

Inside the blue turned red veins,
Inside the blood turned to fire,
Lies panic and desperation for a cure,
To come fast before the fire burns me whole.

Inside the neurons of my brainwashed brain,
Inside this pretty little face of mine,
Lies torment,suffocation, repression, and injustice.
Injustice done to thyself.

Inside these long model-like fingers I wear,
Inside this throbbing pain running through my hands,
Lies a story being written,
By strangers of the mind and body, but not heart and soul.
