Pain Wars

Post by Oceantide »

Pain
On my heart
In my head
Explosive
Heart bursts
Head explodes
Body in bits and pieces
Stuff it STUFF it
Push it down
Numb it up
Shut it down
Freeze it up
Wall it off
Isolate
Run away
Go away
Work
Numb
Work Numb
Work Numb Work Numb Work Numb
Numb
Dull throbs
Of Death
Pulsing still
Why
WHY?
Don’t you die?

I love this! You really expressed pain in vivid and accurate ways. I can almost feel what you are describing by reading it.

Thanks, Chessgirl. I'm not sure why I posted this poem written so many years ago, but it felt comforting to share it. Thankfully I don't experience pain today as often, as viscerally as I did at that time.

Thank you for sharing about how you fought and you numbed and you did again and again. And ohhh the relentless stuffing!
