reisha,
ah, the joys of dictation! Love how it spells out symbols (Dash, Brackets). Even with its quirks, it's a big help.

It's so cool that you have a rubber stamp collection!

Yay! Jim's party! Have a great time, reisha!

Have fun at party to celebrate 70th birthday of Gem, Reisha

Great to know you chose to attend

Smiled at voice recognition - quite understandable, saves you much effort

Like you, I'm bemused by a 54yo having apparent lack of awareness. Could be though that some kind of brain trauma occurred - long ago knew a man who was a top engineer. Brain injury - hardly knew how to do basic self care for several years, let alone talk about birds, etc - or return to his world leading business

Very soft hugs

Hey reisha, just checking in and saying hi. So lovely to read about kitten and cat antics. :D Hope event went okay, and sending you some caring and kindness if okay. Hope you find a way forward with gem too, sounds tricky and difficult when it really shouldn't be - $600 is so much, too.

Wishing you well, and hope the rubber stamps stay in order! :)

{{DANCING FISH!!}}} so good to 'see' ya! thaks for yer kind words. of COURSE yer always welcome here!

{fleur!} - oh! doh! i dinna thinkof a TBI - that makes sense too.

{{THERE!}} - yeah - the VR ( or, is it 'SR'? - isna vr for 'virtual reality'?) - does has its uses - altho, i kinda find its 'mistakes' more annoyin (or, at least JUST AS anooyin as all my typos, lol!!)

well, gems *isurvived* gems party. there were about 14-a us, & i knew all but 1 couple. there are 3 peeps im gonna talk bout - y'all already know bout gem. theres also 'A', & 'trinks'., for our purposes here.

the res @ restaurant was for 6. i got there @ 6:32; i was 1st one there. ( guess it ws 'hippie time') 'A' showed up just as i was orderin a glass-a wine. - a lil bout 'A' - she's very diff tahn me, into all the latest & greatest gadgits, hasta havve all the 'rite labels' & brand names, uses guys to get What She Wants - but, i respect & love her - shes had sum hard challenges. she's 52. she has an autoimmune/blood disorder, & bout 20 yrs ago, was dying, in need of a liver transplant. we were much closer back then, & she chose me to be her 'mouthpiece' for all our friends online, etc. she got her transplant, but then really distanced herself from me, & alotta our group. it was very confusing, & hurtful to me. but over the yrs, (as life presented its challenges) - i found i forgave her, understood that she was only doin what she knew to survie. her ways are not mine, & thats ok.
so, she & her dat sat next to me (it was a LONG table in the patio - could sit on hard chairs & face wall, or on hard bench facin people. i chose hard bench. so, 'A' intro's me to date, they order drinks & we start chatting, catchin up. i havna seen her for quite a while, & havna really CONVERSED w/ her for many yrs. as we're 'remeber whening', she brings up sum special moments id forgotten. eventually gem & hub, the others show up. (i'll get to that...) 'A' & i really re-connected. It. Was. Good.

'trinks', otoh - (she's 74 - 76) - is/was a close friend. last yr, i guess we hadda fallin out - she'd invited me to an exibit in The City, but kept commin up w/ delays, excuses, & we never went. there were a coupla- a other occurances of angst that i cant quite remeber, but i really felt that she was distancin herself from me - where we once talked on phone several times a wk, it became that i always got hr vm, & she never returned calls; if i did get her on phone, she was busy & couldna talk. WRF, woman!?!?! whaddidiDOOO?!?!?!
so, she shows up, we exchange greeting, she asks me a bs question bout the restrauarant, then decided it musta her sis she'd been w/. End. Of. Convo....
i asked her after if i could catch a ride w/ her - she said no.
harumph! i dunno what to think, im disappointed, hurt (pissed) - guess i'll maybe send her an email, ask what ive done..... (or not, since i been sittin on my hurt feeling for a yr now......)

gem - i congradulated her on completin 70 yrs, startin her 71st - she got all pissy - i said 'havna ya earned every grey hair, hadda good life? she got over herself.

so, durin dinner, it was me, 'A' & her date in one convo at our end-a the table, & everyone else in another convo, w/ a lil spillover now & then on various topics.
it was a mexican resterant, inna 'gourmet ghetto', so i knew it'd be more expensive than the mexican food in my neighborhood. i figgered it'd probly cost me bout 20 - 25 instead-a the 10 - 15 i usually spend for a meal. gem hadda the rest print up a special menu for her, w/ b-day wishes, etc ( cuz, yano shes ENTITLED!!) the only thing on it i could eat was a $10 appitier of guac.
it was decided that we'd split the bill, but gem & hub wouldna pay. my bill was $22, but after they figgered the split, i owed $38 (leavin me $60 for rest-a month)

as we're leavin, ( i decided to not go to show - $, & enregy drained). i again wish gem happiness, & we chat a bit bout Whats Goin On in my life, agree to get my posters shes been storin for me for several yrs (there are hundreds). i tell her 'ours is a complicated relationship, but i do love ya, we're fam'. she said she's call me soon, & we'd talk in more detail bout gettin together as hubby comes by w/ van.

as i walked to bus, i reflected on 'life', what brought us all together - THE MUSIC!! ({{THANK YA, UNCLE BOBO!!}}) - the ... times ive had, the experiences, the people who've flowed thru my life .........
said 'good evening' to folx as we passed on the street, hadda cool convo w/ guy on bus .....
It. Was. Good.

family reunions are always kinda hard/wonky. but this one was small, & not *too* hairy ( cept for 'trinks')

got home bout 10pm & just WIPED!!!! - tween sittin for 4 hrs for puter class, takin 2 buses each way & sittin on hard bench at rest, MY ASS IS GRASSED!!! so is my entire body.

today, helper took me to getta new (free) phone, as old one is 3+yrs old, & f'n up/not workin rite any more. crashed for lil nap round 4 - er, crashed HARD - woke just a while ago (great!) (typical, me & my vampire sched) - gonna try to go back to sleep, hope im not up all nite.....

Thank you Reisha for saying about how it was for you at Gem's birthday function. On balance, seems it was a pleasant evening. Hear you regarding food and cash. Glad you and A caught up - wish you well to fathom life with Trinks

May you have enjoyed sweet dreams

reisha,

Dictation is a pain at times, yes. It's still better than wracking up my hands again.

I'm pissed about how they divvied up the bill. Sounds like Trumponomics to me!!! :x

trinks---yeah, the chili shoulder routine. Seems you did your best to keep things going. She didn't.

Yet you had the opportunity to reconnect with A and that. Was. Good.

Hi reisha,

Glad also you are attempting dictation. I hope the pros outweigh the cons.
Wondering if you find it difficult not being able to express yourself the same way through dictation?

Really glad you have a helper person involved. Doesn’t sound perfect but I hope in The end it leaves you with more ability and energy to engage in things that bring you joy.

Sending caring,

Couragetoday

Yes, courage, I do it frustratin -tween auto correct, & other 'upgrades - it's very different than my old ( obsolete) laptop. But, as I'm learnin how to use tablet, it's learnin how to react to me - very weird (& 'untaural) to interact w/ technology like this. Kinda 'triggers' my paranoia & ddistrust, if that makes any sense.

There, fleur - thanks for yer replies, support, observations, opinions & suggestions - it means alot to me, validates sum stuff & gives me morebetterideas as I go forward. I value yer input, &love ya all greatly.

reisha,
Ct brought out the obvious point about you using dictation that I had missed. Your unique expression——of course you don't want to sacrifice that!
I have my own qualms about dictation still. I like typing. I like using my hands to express my thoughts. It isn't the same speaking what I intend to write. I think it does get easier with practice.
Something I've learned using dictation– — punctuation generally works in spoken form if said with, or soon before or after words. From being a professional proofreader, I learned the term, and I'm typing this for accuracy, "em dash". Speaking that Will give you this: —. The – Mark––.

Okay, wow! Dictation right now is giving me a short– or what's called an "en dash" when I simply say the word, again I'm typing it, "dash". It seems I've said "em dash" enough now that dictation that it automatically gives me an en dash, or shorter one when I simply say the word "dash". 8-)

I love your style of writing, by the way. Wish you could handwrite and upload posts.

I love you too, reisha.

Hi reisha,

I had wondered if you were experiencing a similar love/hate relationship with dictation.
I’m so very grateful it is an option as it’s doubtful I would be online without it, but it is also frustrating to feel unable to be yourself in someways. I hope any triggers and paranoia it brings up will feel manageable and that you can communicate As you wish, or at least close to it.

Thank you for your support to me, and offering love and caring to you.
