Post by Abbie » Thu Nov 05, 2015 8:25 pm

Hi everyone,
it may not be a big deal but i finally had the courage to call and schedule an appointment for an outpatient intensive therapy for trauma.
Its this coming up Monday and I'm very nervous and scared of how to start the talking and how will it end up. My heart is already racing i cant control it. well i hope it goes good.

Just thought - would it be a good idea for you to write down some of the things you want to talk about?

Dear Abbie,

This is a huge step forward. Bravo. You deserve this treatment. It is your turn to take charge of improving your own life. In terms of writing things down I second the idea. Remember there is this urge to just go full steam ahead to make the hurt stop. That is not how it works. Trauma takes time. Rushing things works to slow things down. The brain and heart can only process things at their own speed.

Two suggestions:
1. Be fearless longterm
2. Go slow and take really good care of yourself.

I bet other people here have suggestions for starting therapy.
You must feel pretty good having taken this step.

with support,
Harmony

hi Abbie Regards writing things down - you could do both - write on the forum but also on paper that you can actually take with you and refer to as necessary. As Harmony says, this therapy can't be done in a rush, so maybe try and prioritise the things you really want to bring out at the first meeting.
will be thinking of you on Monday,

awww thank you Susan for willing to think about me on Monday. What i have on Monday is professional assessment specialist who would ask questions for an 2 hours and see which program is right for me. So i don't i will be seeing one on on therapist yet. In that case I'm not gonna write anything, just gonna answer with truthful answers and we'll take it from there.
what I'm gonna start doing is start creative writing and writing updates from the thr

Congratulations Abbie. ~^-^~
Outpatient intensive therapy was the best thing I have ever done for myself.
