this is something i wrote back in high school. it accompanied a series of photos i took for a photography class. i'm no longer trapped. at least not physically. but a lot of the feelings are still there.
Trapped
When all is dark and lonely
And there's no way to escape
Thoughts of freedom are pondered
Or is it too late?
Stuck inside this prison cell
Disguised as a home
It is an illusion of happiness
But let the truth be known
Underneath the polished siding
Lies a dungeon cold and dark
There's no place left for hiding
From the watchful eyes of the shark
It hunts down its prey
Just as graceful as can be
In the middle of the day
Yet no one can see
For the dungeon is isolated
Far from civilization
The victims are haunted
From years of devastation
Even after all is dead and gone
The voices can still be heard
Screeching through the once-locked cage doors
Still locked inside the mind
There is no way out
No destiny to find
As lifeless bodies flow
Through waters so purled
Mouths are left agape
Trapped in this world
With no way to escape
Trapped

Re: Trapped
solana, that was very moving. You gave words to feelings that others may be experiencing but have been unable to express.
I am glad you are no longer physically trapped, but I understand that the feelings evoked here are still present - which is perhaps more to the point.

Re: Trapped
Thank you,
solana,
it's amazing how you expressed the trapped feelings in these lines you wrote when you were in high school

All women are beautiful. Period.
I deserve better than survival.
